Rawlings to Riverside, Wyoming
62 miles
2,854 feet of climbing
Good morning. This is actually the morning of day 32. Yesterday’s day 31 ride was from Rawlings to Riverside, Wyoming.
It was a crazy day of riding, and the earliest start I’ve done – 6:30am. I left that early because I had to get out on Interstate 80 for a period of time. I spent a little over 13 miles actually on Interstate 80, which was absolutely crazy being on a major highway like that. That’s a first for me.
I’ll say, though, that the road was good and relatively clean, and I had a great tailwind. I might have a minor leak in my tire, we’ll see today.
But the rest of the day was crazy. Total ride was 60 miles, 2,500 feet of climbing,. The last 40 miles there was a headwind with the last 20 miles being a severe headwind, so much so that there were times when I would almost come to a standstill.
That last 20 miles was the hardest that I’ve had on this ride so far. Wind. Wind is tough. But I made it made it to a nice bed and breakfast and I stayed here last night.
I have a 50-plus mile ride today and then a 50-plus mile ride tomorrow, then I get home for a few days, which will be really great.
I’m really doing well, enjoying the ride and looking forward to get home. I noticed I’m getting more and more antsy to get there. And I know that it’s also going to be tricky leaving, so I have to work that out.
But loving every minute of this. I hope you enjoy the pictures.
No navel gazing from yesterday. It was just do everything that I could to actually finish the ride.
Have a great rest of the week!
